john aralica
John Aralica has been playing guitar since the age of 12 and has been in numerous
local bands. Self-taught, he started off with Tone back in 1984 in the Thrash/Metal band
'Stonehenge' as the drummer. Later he switched back to the guitar for the short
lived Skate-Punk/Thrash band 'GTP' (Generic Toliet Paper) in 1986, once again with Tone.
In 1987 John did an about face from his previous band types and formed Exit.
'Exit' was an alternative band when the term was still valid. After his experiment with
'Exit', he and good friend Phil Reedy (later tried out as bass player for CroTech)
formed a band that would have more chemistry than a chemistry book. John meet
Gerry Trebotic (CroTech's third drummer) through this band, which never had a name, through a recycler ad. Phil and
John started writing such good songs together and effortlessly, it could only be
described as Lennon-McCarthish. The band would last nearly a year until all the
pieces fell apart. Personal problems at home caused Phil to quit the band, which
in turn caused the singer Ed Bussman to move back to his native midwest. Gerry and John
tried to continue the band in 1989, which then became 'Greenhouse' but they disbanded
it in the spring of 1990 as they couldn't recreate the band that once was. John
then got back together with Tone and drummer Johnny Brunac (CroTech's original
drummer) in the summer of 1990 and formed 'Nothing Shocking' in which John sang lead for
the first time. 'Nothing Shocking' turned out to be only a recording project. In 3
days of recording, 1 day of writing the songs, and 2 days of recording, the band
banged out 6 songs, 5 original and a cover of Lenny Kravitz's "Mr. Cab Driver". The
band only were together for those three days. They had never played before as a trio,
and wouldn't do so again until 'CroTech'. John and Tone went to Croatia for the
summer, and when they got back everyone started doing their own thing and never could get it going again. John then
joined a really moody alternative band called '22 Minutes'. He fronted this band
from 1991 to early 1992 and played very little guitar. After numerous gigs
throughout Southern California and a demo, the band broke-up due to personal
differences in the bands direction. In late 1992 John got back together with Gerry
and original singer Ed from their nameless band from 1988. With an additional
guitarist, Pete Sebastian, and Ed on bass, the band became 'Seven Poisons'. The band packed in numerous
club gigs, recorded a demo, and was on the brink of acquiring management and
a promoter when things fell apart. The band then folded in the fall of 1993
when Ed left back for home in Missouri. John then gave up music for most of 1994
and half of 1995, not picking up a guitar for a year. He returned to music when
he became re-inspired during a trip to Croatia in the summer of 1995.
