Friday night and to another disco bar, this one near the city of Varazdin, where we have some friends that have supported our band for the last few years. It was crazy to finally meet them and they did a great job in speading the news around that two half drunk Croatian-Americans and a sober Czech-American were coming from California with rented amps and van from Zagreb to rock Croatia. instead of the usual hour time slot we were given, we had unlimited time tonight thanks to our bros from Varazdin. So we played for nearly an hour and a half, playing almost all our songs. Played "PW'd" for the first time, and damn that little song sounds good live. Then did a couple of Croatian Rock covers. We did Phidomod Pop's "Frida" again, this time under a warm buzz and not a drunken stuper. This time John got the crowd into a minute sing-a-long towards the end of the song (not that they weren't singing before the whole time). Then after "Superslacker", which is usually our closer, we pulled out a special little Croatian cover of Prljavo Kazaliste's "Ruza Hrvatska". The crowd sang every word to that song like it was a prayer, many holding the two finger sign in the air and others with arms around each other. Unbelieveable! It was sureal and a very moving religous like experience. To play that song in front of a Croatian crowd in Croatia was just simply emotional. Hard to really explain.
